The Utah Science Technology & Research Initiative (USTAR) is a state-funded investment to strengthen Utah’s “knowledge economy” and generate high-paying jobs. The BioInnovations Center houses highly-advanced life sciences laboratories and provides researchers the resources to seek cures for human and animal diseases. The open-lab environment includes formal and informal collaboration zones. Lab spaces were designed to meet widely varying vibration performance requirements at different areas within the building. The floor plan supports private and open office spaces directly adjacent to both labs and collaboration areas. Reaveley Engineers worked closely with design and construction team members to evaluate different framed floor systems for vibration performance levels. This approach determined the most economical framing systems. The structural contract drawings were delivered as an early bid package -- contributing significantly to an early completion date and early occupancy.
