University of Utah Thatcher Building for Biological and Biophysical Chemistry Addition
The addition of the Thatcher Building for Biological and Biophysical Chemistry expands the Henry B. Eyring Chemistry Building at the University of Utah by approximately 45,000 sf to address the growing need for laboratory facilities catering to undergraduate teaching and advanced graduate research. The project includes state-of-the-art offices, specialized laboratories for chemical research, an innovative undergraduate teaching lab, group study rooms, a seminar room, and essential support spaces. The standout feature, however, is the exclusive 90-seat seminar auditorium, a dedicated space for the Chemistry Department's use, fostering a unique environment for academic collaboration. The design emphasizes functionality and openness, with well-equipped labs featuring casework and hoods and strategically positioned windows to flood the area with natural light.
