University of Utah John A. Moran Eye Center
The Center’s design has two distinct sides, a five-story clinical pavilion and six floors of research, separated by a glassed-in atrium. The clinic occupies two floors. The research space occupies half the facility with clinic and surgery areas occupying the other half. With this addition, the Moran Eye Center becomes one of the largest eye complexes in the world. It’s already recognized as one of the best, with patients traveling from all over the world to be treated. Staff includes experts in many aspects of treatment and research, including genetics, transplantation, disease processes, adult stem cells, artificial vision, and basic eye care. Of structural interest, the clinic, lab and adjacent 75,000 sf parking structure are comprised of three different and separate structures.
