The Kathryn F. Kirk Comprehensive Cancer Care and Women's Cancers facility at the Huntsman Cancer Institute is a cornerstone of advanced cancer care and research in the Intermountain West. The latest of multiple phases spanning nearly three decades, this expansion brought crucial additions, including specialized care for breast and gynecologic cancers, inpatient rooms, operating theaters, and treatment spaces for blood and bone marrow cancers, alongside an integrative health center.

onstructing this 225,000-square-foot facility posed unique challenges, not least integrating it into the bustling institute without disruption. Other challenges included support for a drive lane beneath an eight-story structure, constructing a two-story pedestrian bridge independently due to site constraints, and a significant excavation and shoring operation on the sloped site.

Reaveley spearheaded the structural design, employing innovative solutions to ensure safety, functionality, and adaptability for future expansions. The design exceeded client expectations, prioritizing sustainability, flexibility, and cost-effectiveness while ensuring uninterrupted patient care.
