Fairbourne Station Parking Structure
2020 UC&D Utah Most Outstanding Concrete Structure Project
The Fairbourne Station Parking Structure in West Valley City boasts seven levels and spans 420,000 sf, catering to UTA bus and Trax riders, West Valley City employees, and occupants of the Fairbourne Station Office Tower. This enduring parking solution, designed for a lifespan of over fifty years, incorporates a cutting-edge snow-melt system on upper levels, ensuring efficient snow clearance without the need for storage or plowing. The structural ingenuity is further exemplified by the exclusion of shear walls, enhancing user safety by eliminating blind spots and allowing the insertion of openings in the concrete facade to usher in natural light across the 1,200 parking stalls within.
Beyond its functional excellence, the design integrates small retail spaces on the ground level, fostering a vibrant outdoor ambiance around the parking structure. The glass curtain walls, coupled with intelligent design elements on the northeast corner, seamlessly harmonize with the surrounding buildings. A second-story sky bridge links the structure to the adjacent office tower, showcasing the structural connectivity of the development.
