Located in southern Utah, this impressive 155,000 SF structure offers physical exercise and excitement. As an academic center, the Human Performance Center (or HPC) includes specialized classrooms and labs for its Health and Human Performance programs along with Physical and Occupational Therapy courses. But students in these fields aren’t the only ones to fully enjoy the building. A gathering place for students to play and compete, the HPC houses Utah Tech’s campus recreation and intramural programs. A student fitness center stretches over three levels. Basketball courts convert to indoor soccer venues. The 65-foot climbing wall is the tallest climbing wall on any school campus in Utah. And the wall is just one place the facility’s structural engineering shines. The HPC houses a 50-meter Olympic-sized swimming pool. (The only pool in southern Utah—and second in all of Utah—meeting NCAA requirements to host official events.) For athletes who prefer dry ground, the building features indoor and outdoor tracks. The sprint track ingeniously incorporates a 40-degree incline from the buildings third level to its rooftop outdoor track.
