The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kinshasa DRC Temple
The Kinshasa Temple will be the fourth temple built in Africa for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; it will be the first LDS temple in Central Africa. The building will include one ordinance room, one sealing room, a baptistry, and celestial room. The single-story concrete frame has a masonry infill structure. Hip-framed steel beams and purlins support a metal deck roof with a structural steel and light gauge steel-framed steeple tower. The structure is designed to support a statue of the Angel Moroni, a traditional feature atop most LDS temples, as a possible future addition. A site guard house and a grounds building were also included in the project scope. The temple is being built on a 10-acre property that includes a stake center/meeting house, and a building for seminary and institute of religious learning classes.
