The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Cedar City Utah Temple
2017 UC&D Utah Most Outstanding Precast Concrete
2015 ACI Intermountain Region Award Excellence in Concrete
Spanning eight acres of land, the Cedar City Temple is the 159th operating temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and the 17th LDS temple in Utah. It serves church members in southern Utah and parts of Eastern Nevada. The design team looked to the architecture of historic buildings in surrounding communities as well as pioneer temples for architectural inspiration. The structure includes three floors above ground and a full basement. The concrete walls support the integrity of the building and will endure a major earthquake. Walls are 15 inches thick and will prevent the temple from swaying and twisting. The footings of the temple are eight feet wide and 40 inches deep. There is also a grounds and maintenance facility on the property.
