For an organization charged with preserving environmental quality, the Technical Support Center for Utah’s Department of Environmental Quality lives up to its mission. A mere 700 steps away from DEQ headquarters, this science-oriented structure works to improve air quality beginning with its location. Many DEQ employees need frequent access to both headquarters and the Technical Support Center—the proximity of the two reduces the need for car travel and resulting auto emissions.

To further serve Utah’s environment, the Technical Support Center includes working labs, a specialized filter room, and storage for scientific equipment. Both air-quality and water-quality scientists use the facility for sampling and analysis. The structure is designed with sufficient space to build and repair monitoring stations.
