Ogden High School is a prized historical structure and remains one of the best auditorium spaces in the Ogden Valley. The unique expansion and restoration/renovation of the high school, originally built in 1936, called for constructing additional buildings and creating a central plaza that connects each of the structures. The work included adding a new gymnasium, cafeteria remodel and expansion, science classrooms (with wet labs), new music room, new black box theatre, choir room, dance rooms, broadcasting classes, and building system upgrades.
The remodel included a seismic upgrade to both the existing gym and auditorium, which consisted of new shotcrete and cast-in-place concrete walls. The seismic upgrade of the auditorium also involved new concrete shear walls as well as center-core shear walls to protect the auditorium's historic finishes. The excellent examples of art deco-style architecture, for which the structure is known, were carefully preserved and enhanced.
