University of Utah College of Nursing Annette Poulsen Comming Center
Originally constructed in 1967, major upgrades were needed to not only compensate for the structure’s existing seismic deficiencies but to also place the college at the forefront of nursing education. The building features an entirely new infrastructure, a new auditorium, classrooms increased faculty and staff work areas and upgraded educational technology. The entire first floor features the Intermountain Healthcare Simulation Learning Center. This virtual hospital is utilized to prepare interdisciplinary teams of students in patient care management scenarios. The expansion of the fifth floor Emma Eccles Jones Nursing Research Center is in response to the success of the college’s externally-funded research projects and the growing number of PhD students.
