Asher Adams Hotel
The historic Union Pacific Depot is undergoing a comprehensive renovation in conjunction with the construction of a new adjacent eight-story luxury hotel inspired by the former train station. Paying homage to Asher and Adams, two pioneering cartographers among the first to include railroad routes on maps, the Asher Adams Hotel will preserve the exterior of the iconic three-story Grand Train Hall while repurposing its south wing into a restaurant. The ground floor of the depot will feature the hotel reception, lobby bar, and entryways facing 400 West; the upper floors will be utilized for administrative offices, guest rooms, suites, a boardroom, and a specialty bar, maximizing the existing space while retaining historical elements.
Floors two to eight of the new structure will house most of the hotel's 225 guest rooms and 26 suites, while the ground floor will accommodate meeting spaces, a junior ballroom, and a fitness center. The innovative c-type curvature of the new structure allows for an open courtyard separating the new building from the historic depot while fostering a cohesive link between the old and new structures. A unique seven-story bridge provides for the continuation of guest rooms on levels two through eight while opening the courtyard to the Olympic Fountain Plaza and The Gateway, creating an architectural highlight that integrates the old and new elements of the project seamlessly.
